USNA ’04

Erik was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and raised in Idaho, Washington, Peru, and Chile. After graduating from high school in Spokane, Washington he entered the Naval Academy where he ran on the cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field teams. He graduated with the class of 2004 with a Computer Science degree, eight N-stars, and an All-American title in the Indoor 1 Mile Run. He was commissioned into the Marine Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant, continued running, and qualified for the 2004 USATF Olympic Trials in the 1500m run.

After completing The Basic School Erik was designated a Field Artillery Officer and reported to 10th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, NC. There he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his second deployment, Erik was promoted to Captain and returned to Camp Lejeune, NC to take command of a Headquarters and Service Battery. In 2009, Erik was reassigned to Expeditionary Strike Group Two where he deployed in support of the Struggle Against Violent Extremism (SAVE) and Counter-Piracy operations. He also supported numerous joint and combined exercises throughout the world.

In 2013 Erik graduated from Marine Corps University’s Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA. Following completion of EWS, Erik was assigned to the 11th Marine Regiment, where he served as a Battery Commander and Battalion Logistics Officer. In addition, he deployed to support Operation Inherent Resolve as the Assistant Operations Officer of a Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
Erik is currently assigned to National Capital Region.
